PGDay Austria is set to return to the beautiful city of Vienna on September 4th, 2025. And we’re already in the middle of organising the event. As several important deadlines are approaching, I want to share some things you need to know through this blog post.

I'm sure that most of you already know what PGDays are, but for those of you who don't, I'm going to tell you all about what you've been missing out on! PostgreSQL Days are amazing 1-day conferences packed with inspiring talks and opportunities to have conversations about PostgreSQL. Some people even use them to get to know future employers. Put simply, conferences are a fantastic way to connect with the community.
Now let's talk about PGDay Austria. PGDay Austria is an incredible PostgreSQL community event with a full focus on PostgreSQL in the beautiful capital city of Vienna, Austria. Speaking on behalf of the other organisers, Ilya Kosmodemiansky (Data Egret) and Patricia Horvath (CYBERTEC), I can promise you that the event will be packed with engaging talks, good food, snacks and unconference events – as well as the beautiful view from the windows of this unique location. We've had so much positive feedback on the location in 2021 and 2022, so we're thrilled to be hosting the event once again in the stunning Apothekertrakt of Schönbrunn Palace.
There are actually three ways to join the conference:
Hold a talk on the imperial stage at PGDay Austria! Share your work or contribute to a topic you're passionate about in the form of a talk. No matter how much experience you have as a speaker, everyone is welcome to submit a talk for PGDay Austria! As a speaker, you will get free access to the whole conference and be invited to the speakers dinner the evening before the event. We are expecting more submissions than slots available, so a committee will vote on every submission and decide on the final schedule. There are 3 rooms available from 9am-7pm for talks,so there is a high chance that we'll have a slot for you as well. Holding a talk at a conference is, by the way, the best argument to convince your employer to be allowed to visit the conference. You can already submit your proposal by sending over a title and abstract.
Conferences wouldn't be possible without sponsors, would they? The regular ticket price just doesn't fully cover all the expenses for organising such an event, so we're very grateful to our sponsors. A big thank you to the future sponsors of PGDay Austria.
In addition to the collection of new leads for your company, as a sponsor at PGDay Austria, you'll enjoy a variety of benefits, depending on the sponsorship tier. And the best part? Free tickets are included! We'll be opening the call for sponsors on the 10th of March at 12:01 a.m., giving everyone an equal shot at getting a spot.
In the absence of sponsorship or speaking engagement, the most straightforward method of attending PGDay Austria is to purchase a ticket. The first fifty attendees will receive a regular ticket at a discounted price. A reduced ticket price is also available for students, although this offer is subject to limitation. Tickets will be available from March 17th 2025 on.
There is a lot to see and visit in Vienna. I really recommend extending your stay for 1 or 2 days to enjoy what the city has to offer. Follow the events LinkedIn page for more information as we’ll be posting some sightseeing recommendations.
To make your stay in Vienna even more enjoyable, we have organized a special discount for our guests who book at the DoubleTree by Hilton Vienna. For more details, please visit the conference website.
We can’t wait to welcome you to PGDay Austria 2025 in the stunning Schönbrunn Palace. Join us for a day filled with learning, networking, and the celebration of PostgreSQL. Stay tuned for more updates on LinkedIn and we hope to see you there!
